Wiping soot with a regular cloth almost always smears fine particulate deeper into the surface — our New Lisbon, WI technicians use a dabbing technique with chemical sponges specifically to avoid that.

Our technique avoids the streaking that comes from wiping soot with a rag.
Porous surfaces like drywall get different treatment than tile, glass, or metal.
Local New Lisbon crews mean faster arrival before damage compounds.
Standard vacuums push soot particles back into your New Lisbon, WI home's air — ours don't.
Sponges get replaced frequently during a job since a soot-saturated sponge starts redepositing particulate.
This step happens before any wet cleaning, since vacuuming first prevents particulate from smearing when surfaces get wet.
Non-porous surfaces respond well to solvent cleaners that would stain something more absorbent.
We prioritize metal fixtures early in the job since the corrosion clock starts immediately.
Ceilings get cleaned before walls, since falling particulate would otherwise recontaminate freshly cleaned wall surfaces.
We clean vents and returns as part of the same visit, not as a separate service call.
A technician answers and schedules the fastest available crew.
Mobile units are equipped for both porous and non-porous surfaces.
Surfaces assessed by type before a written price is quoted.
Cleaning proceeds surface by surface with a final walkthrough to confirm.
"We tried wiping the soot ourselves and just smeared it worse. Meridian Smoke Damage's sponge technique actually lifted it without streaking." — Homeowner, New Lisbon
"Fast response meant the metal fixtures got treated before any real corrosion set in." — Homeowner, New Lisbon, WI
"I didn't expect the vacuum step to matter that much, but the carpets ended up much cleaner than our own attempt." — Homeowner, New Lisbon
Regular cloths tend to spread soot rather than remove it.
We prioritize metal surfaces early specifically because of that corrosion window.
Surface type determines whether we use dry sponges or solvent-based cleaners.
Soot removal reduces odor but a dedicated odor treatment may still be needed for lingering smell.
Carpets and upholstery get vacuumed first to avoid smearing particulate when they're cleaned.
Same-day response is standard given how time-sensitive soot damage is.
Our Soot Cleanup crews cover New Lisbon and the surrounding zip codes, with HEPA equipment staged locally for fast response.
